NHS commissioner update for patients registered with Hightown Village Surgery

Local NHS commissioners attended an extra-ordinary meeting of the Sefton Overview and Scrutiny Committee meeting on Tuesday 22 March to present an update on the current situation for patients who are registered with Hightown Village Surgery.  A copy of the report presented can be found here.

NHS commissioners spoke to local councillors and Healthwatch about the report.  We emphasised that local commissioners do not want Hightown Village Surgery to close and that we are making every effort to find an alternative.  Unfortunately we are currently in a position where the procurement process has been unsuccessful.  As there is no substantive provider identified, we may have to make alternative arrangements for patients, as the current interim provider has advised that they are not in a position to continue with the service.

However, we also updated that commissioners have been continuing to actively explore the possibility of providing a GP led service from Hightown Village Surgery.  A recent new development has come to light in the past few days and we have paused our plans to allocate patients to other practices while we explore this fully.

We committed to providing a further update to the Council on this early next week and will of course update registered patients as soon as possible.  We are also planning further local engagement events and will share details of these when they have been confirmed.

In the meantime, if you have any questions, queries or concerns, please continue to use the helpline service: free-phone 0800 044 8169 or email Hightownpractice@H2A.Global.
